Nick Bollettieri (photo below) is one of the most influential people in the world of tennis and a legend who has transcended the sport. In 1978, he founded the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy (NBTA) in Bradenton, Florida. Players such as Agassi, Becker, Courier, Hingis, Jankovic, Rios, Seles, Sharapova and Venus and Serena Williams have all trained here.
This is just one more example of the benefits of the remarkable weather that the Bradenton / Sarasota, Florida area is famous for. There is usually a light breeze and the sun shines almost every day.
Students board here all year round and the environment is ideal for world-class tennis as well as a first-rate education.
There are three private schools nearby that work with the academy to coordinate schedules so that the students get the most out of every day. This is the way champions are built. (Please see all photos below as well as the video clips.)
The IMG Academy is a world-class athlete training complex located in Bradenton, Florida. Boys and girls from around the world come here to train and many become professional tennis players. This video features many rising stars that attended the Eddie Herr Invitational International Tournament at IMG. On court 10 were Maya Tahan from Israel and Consuela Van Grinsven from Bonaire. On court 11 were Nada Ostojic from Serbia and Katerina Filip from Sweden. On court 15 were Amy Xue from Er Ji and Nicole Elise Mossmer from the USA.
