The Personal Experience - Growing up in York County, Debra Markle, owner of Furs by Susan, takes a special interest in her customers and the community she serves. When you are shopping at Furs by Susan, you get the feeling that you are stopping by to see friends. Debra and her staff get to know you and bring out your personality. It helps them select the coat that meets your needs...and your lifestyle. There is a comfortable feeling being in the store and Debra likes to say, "You are a stranger here only once."
A Friend of the Community - Debra is involved with many charities and good causes. She is an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the Hanover Area Historical Society. She also holds fashion shows that help local organizations. The YWCA, YMCA, Breast Cancer, Domestic Violence and Homestead at Plum Creek have benefitted from her involvement. Furs by Susan supports the Music, Arts and entertainment venues in four Pennsylvania counties (Adams, Franklin, Lancaster, and York) plus two Maryland Counties (Carroll and Baltimore).
Furs by Susan is a member of the Hanover and New Oxford Chambers of Commerce and is located in Historic Downtown Hanover, PA.
A Friend of the Earth - In her spare time, Debra owns a farmette and she has been involved with the Penn State Master Gardener Program of Adams County since 2001. She helps to preserve heirloom varieties of vegetables by growing them organically. Her green farm includes traditional methods of composting using natural recycling.
